چکیده
Abstract A process specific to the dynamics of heavy impurities in turbulent tokamak plasmas is found and analyzed. We show that parallel stochastic acceleration strongly coupled perpendicular transport generates a radial pinch velocity. The interaction produced with hidden drifts, quasi-coherent component motion consists pair average velocities opposite directions. breaks this symmetry yields velocity can be inward or outward direction. generated three-dimensional turbulence, presence poloidal It significant only for heavy, high Z ions. tungsten ions analyzed frame minimal test particle model mechanism. use semi-analytical method numerical simulations. scaling laws diffusion coefficient are order drive clear physical image these non-linear effects. conclude by accelerated rather strong impurities.

Gyrokinetic theory of turbulent acceleration of parallel rotation in tokamak plasmas.
A mechanism for turbulent acceleration of parallel rotation is discovered using gyrokinetic theory. This new turbulent acceleration term cannot be written as a divergence of parallel Reynolds stress. Therefore, turbulent acceleration acts as a local source or sink of parallel rotation. The physics of turbulent acceleration is intrinsically different from the Reynolds stress. For symmetry breaki...
متن کاملA ug 2 00 4 Larmor radius effects on impurity transport in turbulent plasmas
Test particle transport determined by the Lorentz force in turbulent magnetized plasmas is studied. The time dependent diffusion coefficient, valid for the whole range of parameters, is obtained by developing the decorrela-tion trajectory method. The effects of Larmor gyration in the presence of trapping are analyzed and several transport regimes are evidenced.

Transport equations in tokamak plasmas
Tokamak plasma transport equations are usually obtained by flux surface averaging the collisional Braginskii equations. However, tokamak plasmas are not in collisional regimes. Also, ad hoc terms are added for neoclassical effects on the parallel Ohm’s law, fluctuation-induced transport, heating, current-drive and flow sources and sinks, small magnetic field nonaxisymmetries, magnetic field tra...
متن کاملImpurity transport driven by ion temperature gradient turbulence in tokamak plasmas
Impurity transport driven by electrostatic turbulence is analyzed in weaklycollisional tokamak plasmas using a semi-analytical model based on a boundary-layer solution of the gyrokinetic equation. Analytical expressions for the perturbed density responses are derived and used to determine the stability boundaries and the quasilinear particle fluxes. For moderate impurity charge number Z, the st...
